Parting Ways With Employees
Whether you’re in construction or another kind of business and have employees, you are ultimately going to be faced with HR responsibility of letting an employee go.
It is the dream, as an employer, to have perfect employees, who never have any issues and everything is fine, however, that dream is far from reality, and in your journey as a business owner, you will find yourself faced with situations when an employee isn’t working out, and it is in the best interest of the company to part ways.
This situation, however, isn’t easy, and before you jump straight to letting an employee go, you want to make sure you have had conversations with said employee, and document these conversations so that if they try to come back and say that they were fired unfairly, there is documentation showing that there were some problems along the way and you did what you could to address the situation.
Now, you’re a busy entrepreneur, and that might seem overwhelming, and like more paperwork than you can handle, but keep in mind that, while yes, it may be a lot of paperwork and time, it is going to be far more cost and time effective to get in front of the situation, rather than trying to gather everything in the case of a disgruntled employee.
